Biography

Laurie Benson has extensive experience in television, print, digital and event media in both the U.S. and Europe/Middle East Africa. An early member of the CNN team, Ms. Benson has spent her career at the center of digital disruption in the media industry. She went on to be a member of the launch teams of both HGTV and Oxygen Media during the rapid growth of cable television in the US. Ms. Benson then served as Publisher for Time Magazine and Time.com (parent company, Time Warner) in Europe/Middle East and Africa, where she garnered extensive experience and high-level contacts throughout the region. Charged with re-directing this mature business, Ms. Benson helped to drive the operation to record profits during her tenure. She then led the commercial activities of Bloomberg's Publishing and Digital operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, leading the brands through the opportunities and challenges of changing digital distribution models for the news industry. She is currently the CEO of Upnexxt Ltd, a media consultancy advising clients on emerging digital platforms and changing consumer media habits. She is also a board trustee of the Royal Air Force Museum and a non-executive director of The Medical Algorithms Company, a digital health company. A regular industry speaker on "Disruptive Business Models", she most recently lectured at Oxford University's Reuters Institute of Journalism.
