Michael Dell is Senior Vice President of IHS responsible for all editorial and publishingactivities globally. These responsibilities are an expansion of his role as Managing Director of IHS Jane's, a post he assumed in September 2008. This followed four years as Deputy Managing Director, during which time he held line responsibility for all commercial activitiescovering sales, consultancy, marketing, client services, product management and M&A.
During this period, he helped lead Jane’s through its acquisition for $183.5m by IHS in June 2007. Michael joined Jane's in 2001 shortly after its acquisition by the Woodbridge Corporation for $110m. In addition to the roles outlined above, he has been responsible through his career at the company for electronic product development and security editorial. He is currently Chairman of the B2B Group of the Professional Publishers Association and a Non Executive Director on the PPA’s Board.
Previously, he was Deputy Managing Editor and then Director of Consultancy and Researchat Oxford Analytica, and a bond market analyst at the Union Bank of Switzerland.
The central theme of his career is the commercial development of information, media and consulting businesses as they adapt to the internet-based Information Age.
He holds degrees in international relations and economics from the University of Cambridge(1992) and the London School of Economics (1988).
